Clash Palette for Attractive Branding

While waiting in line at the deli this morning I noticed the following snack bar stand:

For those of you whose projects focus on branding or product packaging, take a look at how the company uses the palette consistently throughout their branding, down to the text and navigation on their website:

The bright, jazzy combination of thesecolors - 2 clash sets of yellow-green+red and blue-green+yellow-orange - with the classic black and white presents the products as fresh yet metropolitan, attracting the kind of customer who might use the same words to describe him/herself.

Maria Zaikina's "Landschaft mit Haus"

Can you fill the blanks?

While writing my proposal for the final project I found myself describing colors in a rather funny way; since then I keep wondering if people understand a bit of what I'm taking about, so here is the piece:

"I changed the color palette a little bit, since my design requires now much more freshness and a sense of summer and playfulness. These colors are chosen in a pure, personal way, since in my head I am ----------- that was the first color I choose, then I choose ------------- because after all I’m still in Fashion and for what I’ve heard that’s the color a la mode.  Then I choose -----------, because I want one right now, and also because I really like this warm color, it says summer to me and on rainy days it helps you think there’s a sun after all; the last color I choose was ------------ which is pure and only Caribbean water.  Who has been in Cancun knows what I’m talking about."

Maybe you can guess, *hint* they are Pantone color names.

My regards,
Ana Figueroa

This is your brain on color

Andrea Vaamonde, a student from last semester, sent me this intriguing infographic depicting the psychological impact of seeing/being surrounded by colors in various environments.

Do you agree with any/all of these?

I love this design of "London "Landmarks" by Dimitra Tzanos, created from hand-drawn illustrations.  Ana, I'm thinking of your design in particular and what we talked about - and this goes for anyone who wants to work with a hand-drawn or painted design:

Lucia, I thought of you when I saw this - a simple pattern made from photographs - you could create something like this by hand or on the computer:
